Projection Mapping

Projection mapping is using technology to transform a surface not designed for video and often irregularly shaped into a display using video projectors.  Although the term is relatively new, the process dates back to the 1960s, originating in Disneyland where it was used to make disembodied heads look animated on their haunted rides.  Any image can be projected onto the surface, and is popular by artists for use creating illusions or optical tricks on previously static objects.  Essentially, its a more advanced form of shadow puppets.  I find this topic to be interesting because I enjoy colour and light displays and think this is a creative way to use them.
